United Fray // Marketing Internship

Fall 2022

United Fray is offering a summer marketing & internship to college seniors and young professionals interested in pursuing a career in digital marketing, journalism, and/or communications. We are looking for interns who can spend a minimum of 20 hours a week working with both our marketing team and graphic designer remotely and in our office located in Northeast DC's Brentwood neighborhood. You will work mainly with our marketing team on projects across all areas of the business. You'll also spend some time working directly with the graphic designer and editorial team to gain an understanding of the editorial design process driving every District Fray issue and to gain hands-on experience for creating and promoting digital and print design content. Responsibilities

• Researching and implementing design and marketing communication best practices.
• Reporting on marketing campaigns
• Execute daily posting and updating of social media accounts in alignment with built strategy.
• Deliberate planning, strategy, and goal setting for each platform and each brand.
• Assisting with email marketing efforts
• Updating templates and other editorial materials as needed
• Getting photos and other editorial materials production-ready (i.e. photos sized appropriate for print)
• Editing and publishing photo galleries for both print and web
• Uploading print pages of the magazine to create digital copies
• Assisting rest of editorial team on photo-related tasks
• Creating print materials, event and promo signage, etc. as needed for the events and sales team
• Assisting in the creation of in-house and client ads and web banners

• Updating, printing and organizing various printed ad materials and miscellaneous documents as needed

Requirements

• Solid understanding of digital marketing best practises
• Experience with social media tools, platforms and apps
• Email marketing experience preferred
• Understanding of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and InCopy
• Ability to navigate Wordpress
• Ability to assist with organization of past and current issues that involves lifting magazine bundles
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Able to consistently travel to our office in Northeast DC
• Ability to collaborate with a team
• Open and willing to receiving constructive feedback

Compensation:

• $250 monthly stipend (only available for full-time interns)
• College credit available
