Reports state that age discrimination does occur both in the workplace and during the hiring process, and many times, it's not necessarily a conscious act. Perceptions, experience and stereotypes may all play a role in the evaluation of an employee or prospective candidate. Kerry Hannon is the "Jobs Expert" for AARP and a contributing editor to Forbes magazine, as well as the writer for the "Second Verse" column for Forbes.com.
