Job Description & Qualifications:
This is a unique hands-on career exploration opportunity for high school students with mentorship from NTC Faculty. Overall this opportunity focuses on the following components:
Job Skills: students will be directed by NTC Faculty mentors to perform tasks in the student's program area. Job skills such as professionalism, responsibility, effective communication, dependability, time management, and work ethic will be emphasized throughout the internship.
College Readiness: students will have access to NTC support services and systems to learn about the college.
Career Exploration: students will be mentored by NTC program faculty while working (paid) in NTC program area/labs.
NTC Faculty mentors will give students hands-on experience working within their chosen program area. Students will learn valuable life and job skills that will help them no matter their future career paths. They will work closely with their mentors to understand the NTC program they are working in, as well as the opportunity to learn more about other potential programs of interest. Students will leave the internship with the knowledge needed to be successful in the future. This position will work up to 10 hours per week through the Spring semester.
The rate of pay for this position is $15.00 per hour.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Internship varies based on program area and may include:
Work up to 10 hours a week in an NTC designated area or lab for the spring semester. Hours can be flexible, but will be determined by faculty and student availability.
Students may learn how to maintain and create a safe working environment in addition to valuable skills in the industry
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Prepare labs space and materials as needed
Monitor equipment for correct operation
Select tools and materials
Perform safety checks
Document equipment use, and or operational problems
Track inventory
Assist with program activities for recruitment purposes
May have the opportunity to attend and participate in advisory meetings
Connect with local businesses and advisory committee members
May have the opportunity to visit local businesses
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Required
Must be a high school senior
Knowledge, Skills and Ability

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, emails and memos; discuss information one-on-one and in small groups
