Your Opportunity: Taylor Corporation is adding a Manager, Operations - Non-Manufacturing in E. Rutherford, NJ to be responsible for the oversight of purchasing, billing, production scheduling, job planning, and prepress functions of the operation. In all areas, the incumbent is expected to analyze changes and/or new issues to find ways to increase efficiency, improve quality, and reduce costs.

Your Shift:

  • 1st Shift: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with departments and leaders to maximize production capacity and ensure level workload within the business unit; create work back schedules to proactively facilitate customer delivery expectations
  • Ensure proper notification and escalation procedures on missed due dates or other internal processes are followed by the production control team
  • Review and analyze daily reports for accuracy to ensure customer commitments are met; adjust production schedule based on reports and commitment dates
  • Monitor rework reports; investigate rework coded to Production Control and initiate corrective action plans, as needed
  • Develop and maintain metrics that drive the growth of work, mix, and margin of business, along with win ratios that align with company objectives
  • Ensure best practices and policies/procedures are followed by team and vendors; act as the first line strategic resource to address vendor performance issues and escalate accordingly
  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate sourcing department and/or vendors to gain knowledge of potential resources for outsourced products and production capacities
  • Establish and maintain processes and controls to route work to preferred external and internal vendors
  • Identify specific sourcing projects/initiatives for the year; include expected savings, resource requirements, and associated timeline for completion
  • Establish and maintain a continuous improvement environment to promote learning; incorporate the principles of Lean, 5S, and project management into daily routine
  • Provide general oversight of Prepress, CAD, and Mill Services

You Must Have:

  • College Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in Purchasing, Scheduling, or Production leadership role
  • Knowledge of graphic arts industry and print finishing methods
  • Familiar with a variety of billing, purchasing, and scheduling concepts, practices, procedures, and tools
  • Strong knowledge of materials, layouts, printing techniques and methodology, and product construction
  • Ability to use experience and independent judgement to plan and accomplish goals while handling unique, complex, and sometimes ambiguous situations
  • Effective organizational skills; ability to continually changing priorities and coordinate multiple projects
  • Excellent decision-making skills; ability to act with integrity and objectivity utilizing data to make sound decisions
  • Creative problem-solving and negotiation skills; ability to provide thorough and timely follow-up to involved parties
  • Strong technical writing skills; ability to read, interpret, and create reports, correspondence, memos, and other communications
  • Experience with MRP/ERP software
  • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
