In partnership with United Way of Portage County, we are hiring for a RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE!


PURPOSE OF
POSITION: To support and enhance resource development initiatives and processes
including growth of individual donor program, discovery, cultivation, solicitation,
retention and stewardship.

YOU WILL:
Assist with Annual Campaign
  • Learn and execute existing campaign process and timeline and work to expand efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Act as a frontline ambassador for UWPC and interact with a variety of donors, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Identify and cultivate prospective company campaigns and suitable candidates for key volunteer roles while building existing donor relationships.
  • Prepare/ organize/ inventory/ deliver support materials (Meeting agendas, annual letters, campaign kits, records, policies, timetables, reports, training, display boards, forms, evaluations, recognition items, etc.) as needed.
  • Provide support to coordinate calendars, update rosters, set and coordinate meetings, and other duties as needed for campaign team.
  • Act as a lead for initiatives and activities throughout the year including events, trainings, tours, engagement, projects, recognition programs, coupon book vendor solicitation, thermometer sign updates, etc.
  • Serve as a campaign associate - schedule and occasionally attend CEO calls; manage assigned portfolio of existing individual and organization accounts to achieve overall financial growth objectives through account retention and increased United Way awareness among those solicited.
  • Secure opportunities for corporate investment through workplace campaigns, sponsorships, grants, and events.
  • Provide support and appropriately participate in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors. Help develop talking points and scripts, coordinate thank you letters/cards, record information in CRM database, and support participation at events.
  • Act as lead in UWPC's gaming license, acquire knowledge and understanding around gaming rules and regulations including auctions, raffles, and giveaways, etc.
  • Provide leadership for the training of workplace volunteers and others related to the annual campaign.
  • Participate and lead campaign speaking engagements.
  • With support from the Marketing and Communications Manager, administer annual appeals such as direct mail, events, Thank You postcards, coupon book distribution and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with and/or complete grant and sponsorship applications to secure corporate gifts requiring specific United Way metrics or program information.
  • Manage donor and market area surveys for ongoing process improvement.
  • Maintain current awareness and understanding of UWPC's priorities and functions.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office suite including use of Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint to design and prepare resource development materials.
  • As with every other job in United Way, it is not possible to define jobs precisely. Should the need arise, every person in the organization will assist to the best of their abilities.

Database Management
  • Become knowledgeable and proficient with database to deliver consistent, coordinated inputs and outputs including:
    1. Learn and leverage database functionality, assess data input/output weaknesses and develop a plan for improvement.
    2. Enter data to keep donor database records accurate and up to date.
    3. Create and prepare basic software operations assignments for; mailings, donor communications, recognition publications, targeted donor lists as needed, required reporting, data analysis, etc.
    4. Back up for design and sending newsletters.
    5. Develop and cultivate prospect lists.

  • Work with United Way staff to coordinate and maintain accurate campaign records that are critical for campaign purposes that will allow us to be responsive to donor and volunteer needs and provide the highest level of customer service.

This is a FULL TIME position - (40-50 hrs./wk.) requires some schedule flexibility for activities, meetings, or events


Requirements:
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in management, communications, or related field or equivalent education and experience
